Steve joined Block Real Estate Services, LLC (BRES) in August of 2011 as Vice President of Healthcare Development. Steve’s focus is working with leading area physician groups and healthcare systems helping them understand the ways in which utilizing real estate can assist them in reaching their strategic goals.  In addition to developing healthcare projects, Steve also leads Block Healthcare Development in acquiring medical offices across the country for investor syndication.

Steve’s relationships in the local healthcare community began in 1996 with the former Health Midwest Health System. In 2003, Steve left Health Midwest after being one of the lead administrators in creating The Cancer Institute, a joint venture hospital between Health Midwest and St. Luke’s Health System. He spent three years with Minneapolis-based Center for Diagnostic Imaging establishing and leading the Kansas City market including the creation of multiple joint venture partnerships with local health systems.

In 2007, Steve took the lead in establishing the Kansas City office for Des Moines-based LADCO Development in an effort expand its healthcare focus in the Kansas City region. In Steve’s time with LADCO, the Kansas City office developed multiple ground-up developments both in and out of the healthcare arena.

Since joining BRES, Steve has led Block Healthcare in the development,  acquisition and syndication of over $250,000,000 in real estate transactions spanning over 800,000 SF. Block Healthcare has worked with leading physician groups and health systems across the country including Mercy Health System in Iowa, Ohio and Arkansas, Community Health System, Northwest Physicians Health, HCA, Catholic Health Initiatives, Physicians Primary Care of Southwest Florida, Healthcare Realty Trust, Las Vegas Urology, Las Vegas Gastroenterology, Fresenius Medical, DaVita Dialysis and many more.

Steve received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration and in 2004, received a Master’s in Business Administration from the Henry Bloch School of Business at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
