The Overland Park City Council voted 10-1 on Monday to finalize Mediware Information Systems Inc. as the anchor tenant for CityPlace Corporate Centre III (CPCCIII). The proposal will grant $31.6 million in bonds for development of the building and a 10-year, 50 percent property tax abatement to Mediware, with the condition that local employment exceed 300 after five years.

Mediware plans to move from its current headquarters in Lenexa to the CPCCIII in mid-2019. CPCCIII is a planned, 120,268 square foot, Class A office building to be constructed within Block Real Estate Services’ CityPlace mixed-use development. CityPlace will include up to 600,250 square feet of office, 1,382 multifamily units, 140 senior units, and up to 60,000 square feet of retail space.

Mediware plans to significantly increase its local workforce over the coming years, and the new CPCCIII headquarters will ensure the company is best positioned to continue delivering the highest quality products and services to its customers. “We are establishing a modern world headquarters for Mediware, and it will be a good home for our fast-growing company for years to come,” said Bill Miller, CEO of Mediware. “We live and work in the Kansas City metropolitan area. By establishing our headquarters here, we are making a tangible commitment to Kansas City as one of the most important hubs for tech innovation in the United States and in the world.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Mediware into CityPlace Corporate Centre III,” said Ken Block, managing partner of Block Real Estate Services. “The company’s aspiration and commitment to the community made them the ideal tenant for this promising new construction project, and we’re thrilled to partner with them as we continue developing the space.”
