Block's Galleria development could see uptick in apartments, office space

Block Real Estate Services LLC has made a series of adjustments to Galleria as it prepares to advance new uses for the $350 million mixed-use development in Overland Park.

In mid-September, the Kansas City-based developer submitted a revised preliminary site development plan to the city, entailing more apartments - 622 units across two multifamily projects, up from 548 in the previous 2018 plan - at the northwest corner of 115th Street and Nall Avenue.

The new plan also boosts the development's proposed office space more than tenfold, at 275,000 square feet largely within stand-alone buildings, up from 26,000 square feet planned above retail.

Concurrently, the plan decreases Galleriea's proposed space for retail, restaurants and other commercial uses, to 129,094 square feet, down from 214,827 square feet.
