Kansas City, MO – Block Real Estate Services, (BRES) just completed their first annual book drive through a program called Reach out and Read® Kansas City, (ROR). ROR collaborates with pediatricians at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics and KU Pediatrics at KU Medical Center. Since its beginning ROR has grown to a coalition of 50 clinic sites in greater Kansas City, with an emphasis on serving our community's most vulnerable children.
ROR Kansas City partners with pediatric doctors to make books available for children at every well-child visit from birth to five years of age and serving Kansas City's most vulnerable children. ROR has made this literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric primary care, so that children grow up with books and a love of reading.
BRES held their drive for two weeks, starting with a kick-off meeting by Megan Sturges, President of Reach out and Read at the BRES corporate headquarters. The results were outstanding as a total amount of 1074 books were gathered and will be able to serve 1,125 kids and their siblings participating in the Reach Out and Read® Kansas City program!
Not only did BRES participate but many of their tenants including: Woodbridge Corporation, Henderson Engineers, CBIZ and many others contributed to make this book drive such a success.
